The project on at my second semester was concerning the development of a model based decision support system, in the topic "Reality and Models".
Respirators are more complex than just pumping air into to the lungs of the patients. The goal is to provide good oxidization, without doing pressure damage to the lungs or poisoning the cells in the body because of to much oxygen in the respirator air. There is a term called PEEP thats Positiv End Expiratory Pressure, which is used in the respirator treatment of patients to support effectiv recovery.
In our project we tried to make a decision support system helping to make the PEEP treatment more optimum. We made a specification of requirements based on the users demands. The system was build by using a compartment model for lungs and a programme was developed using structured programme development.
Unfortunately the project is not in a digital format.
